Author Name Fullerton, Hugh Title Two Fisted Jeff Binding Hbk Book Condition Very Good Jacket Condition Near Good Type Book Edition 1st Size 8vo Publisher USA Consolidated Book Publishers 1929 Seller ID 015412 This is the life story of James J. Jeffries as told to Hugh Fullerton. 'Jeffries was an outdoor man, a lover of nature, of animals and of rough men in a rough life. He could stand more physical pain, more exhausting work and had more endurance than any man I ever knew. Direct and frank to the point of brutality, intensely loyal if once he accepted a person as his friend. He was, and is, single minded to the point of stubbornness. Once having set himself to do a thing he never changed, but kept straight on toward his objective; crushing or knocking aside any obstacle in his path. He battered his way to the world's championship in that manner. It was not easy to persuade Jeffries to tell the story of his life....It was clear the only way to get the story was to go into the mountains, hunt and fish, and, in the flicker of the camp fire, or during the rests on mountain trails, get Jeffries to forget the reserve that cloaks him in cities, and start him talking. In that way this story was told and, for the first time, the real Jeffries is revealed.' The red boards are clean and bright but has some mottled white marks to the spine. The previous owner's book label is on ffep. Two pages have 9 lines in total underlined in red. The d/w is in a protective sleeve and has 1/2" x 1" piece missing at head of faded spine and has a small triangular piece missing at bottom rear. Some light soiling to rear cover. Small amounts of loss to corners with some wear to edges. Archival tape has been used on the inside of the d/w to repair closed tears, particularly along the spine. All four corners of the jacket have been clipped, it is possible it may have been published like this.
